I was completely shocked yesterday when Skylar called and said she was cut from the JV softball team. This is not a knock on any of the girls that are on the team, Congratulations to them. But I have coached 90% of these ladies in the summer, Skylars SOFTBALL SKILLS are as good as the ladies that were kept. She can play with them. She can hit, catch, throw and field. She has a little issue with running long distance. Therefore she would never go out for the track team. She was cut because of her lack of running skills.

Skylar, my daughter, strained a muscle above her hip on the first day of tryouts, the JV coach sent them on a 1/3 mile run in upper 40 degree weather at the start of practice without stretching or warming up. Skylar missed the 2nd day and couldnt run the 3rd or 4th day. coach said because she didnt get to see her run that she was not on the team. SAME COACH FROM LAST YEAR THAT SAW HER RUN THE WHOLE SEASON.

I started coaching at this coaches age, but it was T ball and flag football, them softball when Skylar was old enough. At that time I was learning the basics, not learning the basics while ur supposed to be preparing high school athletes for Varsity or even college, if the player is good enough (and im not saying Skylar is good enough to play college

This JV coach at Monacan is completely clueless about coaching softball, last year was her first year coaching. I offered my time to be her assistant last year and showed up everyday to help except for when Dustin had a game, and i also missed a few of his senior year game to help with softball. So i know exactly what this coach knows

If Skylar wasnt good enough to play, then no big deal, but she is good enough to play at Monacan. She is not however good enough to play at Cosby, Manchester or James River.

So i call BULLSHIT, she was not cut because she doesnt have the softball skills. Its something else. I am a Monacan corporate sponsor $500 a year to the booster, and have been the past 4 years. I sponsor 2 golf teams at the annual boosters golf tournament $400 each, this year i signed up 3 teams, also the beverage cart sponsor $250, and a hole sponsor $150. I HAVE RETRACTED ALL SPONSORSHIP $$$$ FROM THIS YEARS FUND RAISER AND WILL NOT SPONSOR THIS SCHOOL AGAIN I'll do the math Thats $2100 a year for the next 4 years $8400

Well so far I've heard from a booster rep and the varsity coach, will schedule a meeting w the AD, head varsity and head jv coaches on monday. Been told that a varsity baseball player was injured in a workout but he was not cut. Where is the uniformity??????

A spring run coach punched me in the face last july when i was coaching for gordon. the monacan coaches dont want ME around the field, so they cut Skylar to keep me away. Thats what the regret is for. If i had not Volunteered my time to coach that team then that incident wouldnt have happened and they wouldnt be punishing Skylar.

I regret having an awesome team last year, with the best softball pitcher in the county, and my kid is not a pitcher so im not speaking of her. (this is what caused the insident above)
